Dr. Carlena Benjamin serves as the Instructional Technology Specialist and Biology Instructor for Northeast MS Community College. In this role, Carlena works closely with teachers and students to effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning. She believes that everyone has their own way of learning, and innovative tools such as the iPad can empower both teachers and students to express their creativity through personalized experiences that make learning more engaging and enjoyable. Carlena has a passion for teaching, so in addition to working with technology, she continues to biology classes at Northeast. In 2019, she was recognized as Instructor of the Year by MS Virtual Community College and earned the title of Apple Distinguished Educator by Apple Education. She was also recognized as College Biology Instructor of the Year in 2020 by the Mississippi Science Teachers Association and became an Apple learning Coach in 2022. Leveraging her 20 years of teaching experience, Carlena continues to make connections with educators across the world with the goal of continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
